MNI SOTA: REFLECTIONS OF TIME AND PLACE

ON DISPLAY FEBRUARY 14-MARCH 17, 2012 AT THE NASH GALLERY!
Mni Sota: Reflections of Time and Place is the largest curatorial exhibit of contemporary Native American fine artists in Minnesota. For the first time, 70 extraordinary works by 19 Native American artists from the Mni Sota (Minnesota) region are on view together at the University of Minnesota’s Katherine E. Nash Gallery from February 14 - March 17, 2012.
An opening reception with the exhibiting artists will takes place Thursday, February 16, 2012 from 5:00–8:00 p.m. There will be a public presentation from 5:00–6:00 p.m. This extraordinary traveling exhibit showcases the innovation and beauty of Native American artists whose ingenuity promotes cultural continuity. The artists of Mni Sota provide stunning examples of ways in which Native artists of the Minnesota region continue to embrace the contemporary while supporting tradition.

Wayne Potratz is a Professor of Sculpture in the Department of Art at the University of Minnesota. Francis Yellow is a Minneapolis–based artist included in the exhibition Mni Sota: Reflections of Time and Place. They will discuss their artistic practice.
