Kickoff to American Indian Month

Come celebrate community and the start of MN American Indian Month at the 2011 MN American Indian Month Kickoff Parade of Nations and Celebration, Friday, April 29th, 2011 beginning at 9:30am at Cedar Field – Little Earth of United Tribes, Minneapolis, MN.
There will be a light breakfast and coffee served at Little Earth of United Tribes at the opening ceremony from 9:30am – 10:30am. There will also be a raffle drawing for gift certificates and door prizes provided by Northland Visions and Pow Wow Grounds Coffee. Following the opening ceremony, join us for the Parade of Nations and show your pride wearing regalia, ribbon shirts and shawls. Community-based organizations and groups are encouraged to carry banners, puppets, etc. and walk in the parade from Little Earth of United Tribes Cedar Field to the Minneapolis American Indian Center. The Parade of Nations community walk will begin at 10:30am at Little Earth’s Cedar Field and proceed north on 18th Ave. S., west on E. 24th St, north on 11th Ave. S., and east on E. Franklin Ave. to the green space between the Minneapolis American Indian Center and Anishinabe Wakiagun. The celebration will continue at the green space (16th Ave. S. & E. Franklin Ave.) and include community speakers, live music and a community feast.
This years kickoff is in cooperation with the American Indian Wellness Fair at the Minneapolis American Indian Center from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
